My guided tours of Brighton are an ideal introduction for students studying in Brighton. Not only will they learn the history of the City but will also get a 'feet on" knowledge of the area - bus and train travel, best places for leisure and shopping, what to avoid. I think this is a great way to make students feel at home in Brighton.

Brighton, then called Brighthemstone, is noted in the Doomsday Book, 1086
In the 1550's, during Bloody Queen Mary's reign, Dereyk Carver was burnt to death - as he was not a catholic.
In 1750's Dr Russell wrote a Dissertation on the Use of Sea Water in the Affections of the Glands, advocating drinking sea water and sea bathing.
The Prince Regent visited Brighton for a cure and was so pleased with its sucess and with the town that he began building the Pavilion.
The Dome was used as a hospital in WW1 for Indian soldiers.
From 1841, when Brighton station opened, millions of visitors have enjoyed our unique city by the sea.
