Tales of a Tour Guide | Murder She Says | Brighton Ghosts | Legends of the Lanes | Brighton Breezy | Rich and Famous and Infamous | Seaside Stroll | Rottingdean Ramble | London, An Introduction | Lesser Known London

Would you like me as a speaker at your event? I've twenty years experience of presenting talks to Rotary clubs, Womens Institutes, social clubs etc, and as an after dinner speaker at conferences, and lecturer on tourism courses. Talks are tailored to your requirements. They can be of any length, although 45 - 60 minutes suits most people. Most work well with or without slides. Contact me for details of fees etc. The following is a selection of the most popular:

Glenda Clarke
Tales of a Tour Guide

Ever wondered what the job is really like? Glenda spills the beans on this entertaining, anecdotal talk based on her 25 years experience of guiding multi-national coach tours around Europe and Great Britain, and her present work as a Tourist Board qualified guide. This talk can be adapted for tourism students, including information on the difference between 'guide', courier, tour manager, representative etc with practical examples.

Brighton Ghosts

Is Brighton one of the most haunted places in the country? A selection of theatres, pubs and haunted houses throughout the city, and how people deal with the phenomena. This talk is complementary to the Ghost Walk.

Legend Of The Lanes

Martyrs, monks, music hall. Smugglers, dippers and fishermen. Quakers, synagogue and chapel. An entertaining armchair exploration of Brightons Old Town.

Brighton Breezy

From fishing village to seaside city. How and why did this happen? Find out about Dr Russells revolting "seawater cure" ,what the early visitors got up to, and how the Prince Regent in his Royal Pavilion made all the difference.

Rich and Famous and Infamous

From fishing village to seaside city. How and why did this happen? Find out about Dr Russells revolting "seawater cure" ,what the early visitors got up to, and how the Prince Regent in his Royal Pavilion made all the difference.

Murder She Says

Years ago, the national press dubbed Brighton "The Queen of the Slaughtering Places", such was it's notoriety. It has the dubious distinction of being the only city in the country in which a Chief Constable was murdered in his own police station, and where two bodies in trunks have been discovered within weeks of each other. This talk includes murders from two centuries of Brighton's past, and is complementary to the Murder and Mysteries Walk. It details the crimes....and the punishments. And in case you're wondering, no, this talk does not use slides!

Rudyard Kipling's house, Rottingdean

Rottingdean Ramble

This lovely village by the sea is now part of Brighton. Hear about the medieval church the Americans wanted to buy, the famous residents such as Rudyard Kipling, Sir Edward Burne-Jones and Enid Bagnold, the wishing stone and the ghosts. An armchair version of the walking tour, with slides.

A Sea Side Stroll

There's more to the seafront than meets the eye. This slide talk explores the two levels, the upper road and the lower traffic free esplanade. For more details see More Walks...
