"Lords a leaping, film stars sleeping, artists weeping, lovers peeping! See where they lived, loved and died on this illustrated walk of fame"

An incredible number of famous people have lived in Brighton, come to school here, retired, visited, holidayed, worked, been born here and died here. Many have commemorative plaques of one kind or another, some do not. Lord Laurence Olivier, Baron of Brighton, leads a litany of actors who include Charlie Chaplin, Albert Finney, Dame Flora Robson, Dame Anna Neagle, and the comedian Max Miller. Playwrights Sir Terence Rattigan, Oscar Wilde, and Ivor Novello, authors Graham Greene, Charles Dickens and Lewis Carroll loved the place. Dr Samuel Johnson and Patrick Hamilton were not so impressed. John Constable painted here. Aubrey Beardsley was born here. These are just a few of the actors, artists, aristocrats, writers, statesmen, showmen who have been attracted to Brighton and Hove . A walk covers places associated with a selection of the above, and others, and is fully illustrated with photos and newspaper articles. Find out what life in Brighton was like for them, and what they thought of the town. Now, even the Brighton and Hove buses carry the names of Brighton personalities. Many well known people like Norman Cook (FatBoy Slim) and Zoe Ball, Dora Bryan, Chris Eubank, and lots of TV actors still live here but we don't go peering in their windows!

Many famous people have been commemorated with plaques at the Walk of Fame at Brighton Marina village where refreshments are available in the Walk of Fame cafe.

This topic is also available as a talk.
